We love this story- it’s very relevant for this time of the year when we should be giving our fellow man a bunk up instead of blowing money on the roulette wheel- this character, known as the Robin Hood of Las Vegas, or Robin Hood 702, manages to combine his love of the tables with a bit of philanthropy.
So who is Robin Hood 702? Well, he’s a high roller in the States who has been winning big at Las Vegas and giving the spoils to the needy: such as Kurt and Megan Kegler from Detroit. When the gambling samaritan was $35,000 up he left the table, and handed the winnings to the Keglers in a big bag of hundred dollar chips. Their 3-year-old daughter, Madison, had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour and they were $35,000 in the red.
The Las Vegas gambler has been choosing needy families to give them his proceeds form the blackjack tables. The Keglers were flown to Las Vegas, driven to The Strip in a stretch limousine, flown first-class and put up in a 8,000 square-foot suite in the Palazzo hotel. Then Robin Hood 702 bet big at blackjack. Despite disappearing into a hundred grand hole early on, he managed to turn things around and recovered to a position of $35k in the black. At which point he quit while he was ahead (the sign of a professional high roller) and handed the spoils to the Keglers.
This all took place around a year ago. Why Robin Hood 702? Well- the 702 refers to the Las Vegas post code (just in case you were wandering around Nottingham looking for him in the forest).
Anyone can apply to be chosen for the next donation on his website- $50,000 is the maximum donation though. Other beneficiaries have been a woman from Charleston, South Carolina, who had run up medical debts caring for her elderly parents and won $20k. And in April he paid for a holiday in Las Vegas for the crew of the Maersk Alabama, the US ship attacked by Somali pirates.
Robin Hood 702 remains a mysterious character. But we’d like to take our hat off to him here at Online Casino King. Good on him.
