Of course we all know how HUGE Facebook is, but one of the million dollar questions is “How Will They Start Making Money”?
OK, they already generate quite a bit of revenue, but how will they make enough money to satisfy their shareholders who have valued the company so highly?
Well, a clue, is perhaps in this latest tit-bit of news from IGT (International Game Technology). That’s the slots people, in case you didn’t know, who are the people behind such games as Cleopatra and Bejeweled.
(IGT) has come out and stated that more than 100,000 fans have now ‘liked’ its MegaJackpots Facebook page that was launched in October 2013 (ie 5 month ago). Not bad.
Las Vegas-based IGT launched the MegaJackpots page five months ago as part of a larger social media campaign and reckon that the page has become a stopping place for players wanting more information on the progressive slot game along as well as details on additional contests and bonuses.
If you head to the MegaJackpots page on FB.com, you are invited to enter the Play Your Way Giveaway. You have to select between two holiday packages to either Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage, California, or Harrah’s New Orleans. The prize come with airfare, hotel accommodation and entertainment.
This looks to be a good marketing angle for them, and is an insight into how Facebook is going to start accelerating its earnings in years to come. Once online gambling is legalised in the US, it’s out guess that they’ll start putting their feet down on the accelerator.
IGT launched the MegaJackpots progressive 1986 and it has since produced thousands of big winners with jackpots ranging from just over one million dollars to a world record slot prize of more than $39 million in cash.
There are plenty of free play slots on Facebook, including some popular Zynga titles and a Caesar’s Casino game: Slotomania-Slot Machine. It’s only a matter of time before the go real play.
