Following on from our article yesterday about understanding the basic bets you can make at The Grand National (which is coming up fast!), here are some tips on the top 20 runners and approximate odds you´ll get at the bookies (as of today).
Who´s going to win the Grand National in 2010? We pick our winners- if you want to know what we´ll be betting on (we reserve the right to change our mind and we don´t guarantee success!), but at the moment we´ve got our eye on 3 runners marked with a **….scroll down to the bottom to see the rationale behind our picks. If we pick some good ´uns, you can be sure that we´ll be bleating about it on the blog until the 2011 Grand National. And if we pick some 3 legged donkeys, you can be doubly sure that we´ll move quietly onto the next topic and you´ll never hear another word on the subject (well until next year of course).
Anyway, enough waffle- let´s get on to this year´s runners.
And where are we going to bet? Well, we bet with Paddy Power. We´ve never had any issues with them. If you sign up for the first time, they´ll give you a £10 FREE Grand National bet on the house.

So what are we betting on this year. Well, we are going for the following, which is a mixture of youth and experience.
- Comply or Die– £10 Each Way Bet. Why? We think 2010 is the year for this horse. A “young” 11 years old.
- Ballyholland– £10 Each Way Bet. Why? This horse is well rested- should have the legs. 9 years old.
- Tricky Trickster– £10 to win. Why? Proven over the distance. plus we like the name (!). A feisty 7 year old.
- Well- a 100-1 outsider romped in last year (Mon Mome). So you might want to have a flutter on an outsider. We´re going to stick a fiver on a French 10 year old called “My Will” which is a 33-1 outsider at the moment.
