Well, we have reported on this previously- Vietnam wanting to open a casino complex that is. It seems that many Asian countries are piling on the bandwagon after the runaway success of Macau, and Vietnam was one of the first to declare it’s hand along with The Philippines.
Well, they are now open for business, as Vietnam’s Ho Tram Strip – the country’s largest ever tourism development – has opened with the ribbon having been cut on its first integrated casino resort, The Grand. Their catchphrase is: The Excitement of Vegas, The Thrill of Vietnam.
Grand Ho
Perhaps an unfortunate name for American vistors, but good for Cantonese (Ho means good in Hong Kong) , the mega casino (officially The Grand Vietnam Casino, Ho Tram Strip) started welcoming vistors on July 26 2013. The 541-room resort has 90 live tables and 614 slots and video games (roulette, video poker etc), and bags of other entertainment and shops to keep you occupied. Work on a 2nd tower at The Grand has already begun and will add a additional 559 rooms when it od finished.
Colin Pine, general director of the Ho Tram Project Company, the developer of the Strip, commented that the work carried out over the last few years has been a “monumental effort” and said that the hotel and casino’s launch was the start of a “new era of tourism” for ‘Nam.
The Grand is the first resort to open on the Ho Tram Strip and will be quickly joined by a second resort run by Pinnacle Entertainment Group and three other five-star resorts. MGM Resorts International, which was initiall one of the front runners, pulled out of the project in March.
The Strip is located around 2.5 hours from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Anyone for a quick spin on the Ban danh bac wheel? What about a quick game of Vegas Downtown roi gân bò then?
We can’t wait to visit.
