A swish casino resort in The Bahamas (The Atlantis) has hit the news headlines this week following a botched “Ocean’s Eleven” style heist at the resort. We hadn’t heard of the resort, to be honest, so we thought we’d take a look. The Bahamas seems pretty appealing for a holiday!
Anyway, back to the botched heist. Here’s what went down:

A gang of 3 (not quite 11) has been arrested after a robbery attempt at a mega-casino went wrong. They posed as maintenance staff and used pepper spray.
3 men, aged 24, 30 and 31, were overpowered by security staff at the Atlantis resort in Nassau City in the Bahamas during the daylight robbery attempt.
The criminals tried to rob a cashier’s cage at the casino after using pepper spray. The resort was locked down on Sunday after one of the staff hit the panic button, making it impossible for anyone to get in or out.
The resort said the robbery attempt did not customers at the casino. It all kicked off in an employes area behind the kiosks where people collect winnings.
The three Bahamian suspects were caught by resort security and handed to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
The men are believed to be have previously worked at the casino. Some say that 2 of the men still worked at Atlantis (presumably they have now been fired).
With around 4,000 rooms, Atlantis is one of the biggest Caribbean casino resorts and is famous for its water slides and pink towers.
It is sprawled over around three-quarters of Paradise Island, near the capital of Nassau. It has more than 7,000 workers, more than any other employer in the islands.
